Compassion

I have a debt with Hunter Warfield. My family and I have had some financial difficulty and when I tried to call and make arrangements with one of the associates told me either I make the full amount or nothing then he hung up on me. Needless to say this was after I told him my husband had gone through cancer treatments last year and I am the only one in the household working at this time. The associate was very disrespectful and rude. Compassion for people would go a long way. I hope they don't experience anything like my family has in the past year.

Hunter Warfield - Debt Collection Review from Waterford, New York

I broke a lease on an apartment last year due to job loss. I made payment arrangements when I was able to get back on my feet, and was making good on them. However, they put it on my credit as a derogatory account. My child and I are homeless and can't rent anywhere because of this. They haven't even sent receipts for my payments. I have since stopped making payments. I'm damned if I do, and damned if I don't. I'll be using my money to provide shelter for my child since I can't get a home. It's not fair!!

Just had the same problem with mike Geary. Calling my home for someone who does not live here.

Very nasty and rude tone of voice. If he is the Sr. Manager then I wonder what the underlings sound like.

Now that I've read some of the complaints I believe this company could use some training in etiquette and ethics.

Bogus Practices

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

So I called this company on behalf of a family member who had suffered a severe stroke, it appears his apartment complex turned his account over to them after the stroke demanding $727.88. I explained that the person had a stroke, they would not clear the account, the reduced it to $600 but wanted payment by the next business day.

After getting the funds together, they then wanted to tack another fee of $14.95 to pay it via credit card. I explained I did not have this because it was difficult enough coming up with the $600 on such short notice. They then stated that I could pay by check over the phone. I asked if they could email me a receipt, since they emailed me the settlement letter, I was told no by not only the representative Brian Williams, but his supervisor and then her supervisor.

I explained that I needed to show the attorney where these funds were going out of the persons account, they told me I could wait the 20 days for the receipt to be mailed. I then said, look I am not asking you to say that it is cleared, I just need you to send an email stating you have received the payment, again I was told no, told it was against "company policy" when I then asked for a copy of the company policy, again I was told no. Really, I could not attempt to pay this bill that I think is BS since the person had a stroke, he could die and then you would get nothing. But no, I am trying to do the right thing by everyone and you cannot send a simple email stating you received payment on the account and it should be closed out within 20 days once the payment has cleared?

*** service, *** apartment complex that does not understand that if someone has a stroke they may not be able to live on their own anymore, yet your greed is so that you still charge them for the month they had to move out.

Luckily for you people, we aren't as shady as you, we did call to pay the bill when we could have left well enough alone and once he passed on you would not have gotten anything because there is nothing to get it from. Word to the wise, if you rent, make sure you do not have a stroke that leaves you unable to care for yourself or you will be screwed over by the apartment complex and Hunter-Warfield.

Promising documentation and not delivering

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I co-signed for a friend on a lease and he was evicted. I was contacted by this company to resolve the outstanding balance. I requested documentation of the debt of 2 occasions from John Nicholson. I was promised a breakdown of the debt and was notified that it was mailed to me AND my friend in certified mail. Nothing was received at my address of the address of my friend. John accused the post office and my address of being the reason that it was not received. I then spoke to a senior manager Mary Joe Leon. She promised me that she would take personal responsibility of sending the letter internally at Hunter Warfield. The result was the same. No letter has been received. Mary will now not return my calls. There is a culture of lies and incompetence at this organization. Considering that Hunter Warfield is promising and not delivering calls the validity of the overall debt into question. I am now starting to question the validity of the company. I expect that they might be fraudulent and I will report them.

This is such a *** company! How is it not reported to the better business bureau?! No one can get a hold of a person to even accept payment and if they do they want to do it over the phone. No thank you! They don't even give you a receipt for payment.

Demond for payment on a house i dont own

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I moved to Florida after being classified by the government as permanently disabled. My mother lived in a retirement community in a very small manufactured home. We took care of each other for 13 years. My dad died in 1996 and my mother ended up in a nursing home with dementia. She is now 93. I stayed in the house for three years to be able to visit mom and saw I wouldn't have enough money to continue staying there. The rent was current. I moved to live with my daughter. Almost 2,000 miles away. About three months after the move HW called to say I owned the house and needed to pay 3k for demolition. I never signed a thing taking over the house. My parents owned it for 37 years. Funny thing that the house was never demolished. It was remodeled and sold. But four years later they are stiil making nasty phones calls. I dont have 3k even if their statement were true. I dont even have the money to fly to Florida to visit my mother and I havent seen her in four years. I now have a lawyer working pro bono for me. He has sent letters telling them the calls must stop and they are still on the attack. These people are worse than snakes. They are work outside of the law and are opportunists and liars.

Why are you listening to these snakes? Remember, phone calls have no legal standing -- ask your lawyer. Get an answering machine or change your number.

Took full payment then sold loan before payment transfer

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
They hounded me for YEARS over a Discover Card charge. I've never had a Discover card in my life. Amex hiked my interest rate for negative credit reports concerning nonexistent or fraudulent Discover account that I had NOTHING TO DO WITH. Took their call. They wantd over $600 on a card that only had a total of $283 in charges on it before it was turned off. I had to hire people just to find that out. I offered them $300.00 from my Credit Union Account to close the case and restore my credit rating. They vehemently agreed. I gave them the numbers and $300.00 instantly disappeared. One week later a new Collection Agency was after me for more than $600.00 for the same $283.00 in bogus charges. H. W. had attributed my $300.00 to a 'Service Fee' and sold the Account the same day I paid them.

Fraudulent Illegal Practices

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
Last year the company shook money out of me through illegal tactics on a 160$ bill I did not owe. I fought every way I could but had to pay as they kept hitting my credit report. Even after I paid they refused to provide any paper work, flat out lied on the phone, transferred me to internal complaints, swore they'd send forms, and hung up over and over. A few months later I posted on their public Facebook page about this because I am still pissed off and lo and behold my credit report was changed... So they've known all along it was wrong and I wish I was wealthy enough to grab myself a lawyer who could destroy them. Do not trust anything they say. The moment they sense you are going to do anything other than shell out money they will start refusing to take your calls or lie about paperwork. They had NO DOCUMENTATION for me, no proof of loan, and no legal required notice - just a slew of sketchy phone calls to my personal cell phone even during the work day.
