So I called this company on behalf of a family member who had suffered a severe stroke, it appears his apartment complex turned his account over to them after the stroke demanding $727.88. I explained that the person had a stroke, they would not clear the account, the reduced it to $600 but wanted payment by the next business day.
After getting the funds together, they then wanted to tack another fee of $14.95 to pay it via credit card. I explained I did not have this because it was difficult enough coming up with the $600 on such short notice. They then stated that I could pay by check over the phone. I asked if they could email me a receipt, since they emailed me the settlement letter, I was told no by not only the representative Brian Williams, but his supervisor and then her supervisor.
I explained that I needed to show the attorney where these funds were going out of the persons account, they told me I could wait the 20 days for the receipt to be mailed. I then said, look I am not asking you to say that it is cleared, I just need you to send an email stating you have received the payment, again I was told no, told it was against "company policy" when I then asked for a copy of the company policy, again I was told no. Really, I could not attempt to pay this bill that I think is BS since the person had a stroke, he could die and then you would get nothing. But no, I am trying to do the right thing by everyone and you cannot send a simple email stating you received payment on the account and it should be closed out within 20 days once the payment has cleared?
*** service, *** apartment complex that does not understand that if someone has a stroke they may not be able to live on their own anymore, yet your greed is so that you still charge them for the month they had to move out.
Luckily for you people, we aren't as shady as you, we did call to pay the bill when we could have left well enough alone and once he passed on you would not have gotten anything because there is nothing to get it from. Word to the wise, if you rent, make sure you do not have a stroke that leaves you unable to care for yourself or you will be screwed over by the apartment complex and Hunter-Warfield.
